In the new year of 2019, I encourage you to continue to wait upon the Lord. He will continue to be the only solid foundation you can rely upon. He will meet you where you are, and lift you to Himself, and guard you with His wings. He will wipe every tear and cast your sins, and struggles as far as the east is from the west.
Wait expectantly knowing that He will fulfill all of His promises. He promises much to His children. “For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.”
2 Corinthians 1:20 It is only when we expect Him and His glory to be enough that we will experience the fullness of them all.
“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
Expect God to meet each need according to His will.
“And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction.”
Expect God to be a healer in your life this year. Not that He will heal every little wound or sickness in our life and in our timing, but that He can and will in His. Let Him heal relationships by expecting God to give you humbleness and grace.
Wait quietly for the Lord. In the attitude of expecting God to meet your needs it can be easy to allow the noise of our cries to cloud the fulfillment God actually is providing. So be still and wait quietly. You will find Him in the secret places, working on the smallest of things that ultimately change the biggest of problems in our lives. “”Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalms 46:10 Even though we may not see Him, He is working. “The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” Exodus 14:14
Wait patiently upon the Lord.
“I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry.”
It takes humility to wait patiently. We all struggle to live in a patient manner. That could play out in almost every aspect of our lives, whether that be dealing with family, friends, or coworkers, or just the person in the car in front of you. Pray in your waiting that you will humbly wait for the Lord to do His works in His time. When our savior sees us patiently waiting on Him He will draw us near to His side.
Wait with an active ear, and active feet. Know that God will answer, so be listening, and be ready to get up and do what His will is. He has given us the great commission which is our to-do list for actively waiting on the return of our savior and king. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
Wait confidently. Confidently wait for the purposes of the Lord to be fulfilled. “And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again.” Exodus 14:13 Know that the Lord is fighting for you. Even while you are asleep God is giving you the breath, giving you the rest, and filling your cup with grace for the new day. He is fighting for you! “So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” Hebrews 13:6 He is our strength and our redeemer. “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31
